In order for Bark to monitor device activity like texts (including deleted ones!), web browsing, and the camera roll on an Apple device, we'll need to perform regular backups to a computer. This is because of Apple's stringent security on their devices which prevents regular apps from monitoring those activities. Thus, you'll be downloading iMazing and the Bark Desktop program onto a computer to perform and upload backups for analysis of worrisome content like Cyberbullying, Sexual Content, Suicidal Ideation, and more. These backups act as blueprints of the device at the time, and regular backups will allow you to monitor your child's iOS device.
After the first-time setup, they won't know you are generating these backups on a daily basis since they will be done wirelessly over WiFi whenever they are home.
Average time to set up: 10 minutes per device
Let's get started!
What kind of computer will you be using?
What about social media?
On your Bark dashboard, under "Connect Accounts," you can connect their email and social media for monitoring. These will be monitored at the account-level, meaning in real-time regardless if they were accessed on a phone, tablet, or computer.
What if my child doesn't have an email or social media?
Your child's Apple ID email is a perfect email to connect for monitoring, since Bark can alert if a child creates new accounts using that email.
Often, this is an iCloud email, which has unique connecting steps. Read our connection instructions for iCloud emails here!
