Bark for Schools offers our DNS and Chrome extension web filters to schools for free, but there may be an occasion where removal of the filter becomes necessary:

  • Changes to network configuration renders the filter invalid
  • Clean slate policy wipe for new filters
  • Discontinuing filter use
  • Testing for network impact

NOTE: G Suite users, please see Section 2 for additional instructions on how to remove the Chrome web filter extension, if applicable.

Section 1 - Removing the Filter

NOTE: Only users with Bark super admin status can access the Web Filter policies page.

To get started with removing the filter, access your Bark Web Filters page here:

On this screen, you'll see all filters that had been previously set up.
Within each window, you'll see an option to Delete this filter:

Once you click Delete this filter for the DNS Filter, no additional steps are necessary.
Once you click Delete this filter for the Chrome Filter, follow the steps below.

Section 2 - Remove the Extension within G Suite

Log into your administrator-level account on G Suite.

STEP 1: Click Devices on the Admin homepage.

STEP 2: Click on Chrome Management on the left-hand side. 

STEP 3: Select Apps & extensions.

STEP 4: Select the OU(s) that contain the students you wish to disable the extension for — bear in mind that the top-level OU in the past may have forced those related sub-OU's to inherit the extension. 

STEP 5: Select your custom Bark Chrome web filter extension, as seen below:

STEP 6: Click the Trash can icon on the right-hand side to remove the extension.
